Over 80 jobs could be lost at DWF as the firm enters its latest round of redundancy talks.
Over 80 jobs could be lost at DWF offices in London, Manchester, Coventry, and Teesside, as the firm enters its latest round of redundancy talks. Two people have already left the Birmingham office after talks, which affected five members of DWF’s corporate and banking and finance teams.
Up to 35 support roles are at risk in London following a review of DWF’s administrative support requirements in the City. The firm anticipates that there will be a reduction of only two positions in total. The office’s employment team is also awaiting a potential restructure, with up to three roles under threat.
In a statement the firm said: “Following a period of significant change, DWF is reviewing a number of areas across the firm in order to ensure working practices and team structures are aligned with the needs of its clients.”
DWF will be scrapping its full-service offices in Coventry and Teesside and is consulting with 11 people across both locations. Some are considering potential relocation to the firm’s Birmingham and Newcastle offices. Elsewhere, about 23 roles are also likely to be affected in Manchester’s banking and finance team.
The news follows the announcement on the 14th May that DWF is undergoing redundancy consultations in its Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. The firm anticipates that seven fee-earning roles will be affected across its banking and finance, corporate, real estate, infrastructure, environment and transport, and litigation groups. Three secretarial roles in real estate and pensions, and one IT position are also likely to be cut.
On the 27th March the firm confirmed it was to axe 38 support staff roles after a consultation affecting more than 140 jobs.
The redundancy programmes follow the firm’s rapid expansion, which culminated in its tie-up with Cobbetts in February this year. Since January 2012 DWF has bolted on six firms, boosting its revenue by £87m.
