Helen is a partner in the Manchester office and heads up the SHE regulatory team nationally for BLM and is also head of the NW region and the firm’s . Helen is also Head of the Manchester Office. She specialises in defending companies and individuals involved in HSE/CPS/EHO investigations and prosecutions. She advises both individuals and companies in manslaughter and complex HSE cases.

Helen is a an accomplished regulatory lawyer with a high profile client base operating in many sectors but in particular in the manufacturing, engineering, construction and care industries .

She handles high profile cases such as the prosecution of Kriston Kearns for gross negligence manslaughter listed for trial in March 2015,

The Polyflor and Printy Court of appeal case 2015 and the AAK fatal accident case concluded at Liverpool Crown Court in 2014.

Helen heads a NW team of five partners and four specialist regulatory lawyers in Manchester and as head of the national SHE group is pivotal to the strategic development of the BLM National SHE practice. She has been ranked in the Legal 500 as a “real expert”.

Helen is also involved with several high profile motor sports incidents in the last year involving fatal accidents at race circuits.

Helen is a frequent and accomplished speaker at national and trade SHE events on specific regulatory issues as well as trends in the regulatory environment including fee for intervention, best practice in safety management, coroners’ reform and sentencing guidelines including responding to recent HSE consultations.
