Published: Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Clyde & Co open an office in Atlanta today making it the firm’s fourth US office.

Today Clyde & Co have opened their fourth office in the US. The office is based in Atlanta. The office was launched by insurance partners James Chin and Bob Fisher, both formerly of US firm Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Cires.

Clydes senior partner James Burns said: “Bob and James bring with them extensive experience of complex, high-exposure claims for some of the largest US, London Market and European insurers. In particular, their experience of significant first-party property disputes and third-party liability coverage matters is second to none and complements our already strong global practice in this area as well as our broader US capability.”

Fisher specialises in complex insurance coverage disputes including property and business interruption claims, appraisals, construction and engineering defect claims, large scale subrogation recovery disputes and other commercial matters.

Chin specialises in commercial litigation and insurance practices with a particular focus on complex contractual disputes as well as insurance coverage and subrogation matters.

Clydes US board Member Bill Casey said that there was “huge potential for growth” in the city as many of the largest global insurers had offices there.

Fisher highlighted the firm’s rapid growth in the US over the past seven years, and said: “The firm continues to invest heavily in its international network and this provides James and I with a highly robust platform to grow our practices.”

Clydes first broke into the US market in 2006 with the launch of its offices in New York and Los Angeles and the hire of four partners from US firm Condon & Forsyth.

It opened its third US venture in New Jersey in 2010, hiring two partners from US firm Connell Foley and adding to it in January this year with three-strong team from New York insurance firm Mendes & Mount.

The firm has also been expanding in Asia, with the announcement last month that it has regulatory approval to open in Beijing.
