Announcement - New member of The Lawyer Network in Cyprus

We are delighted to announce that Alexia Kountouri of 'tassos papadopoulos & associates LLC' has joined The Lawyer Network. Alexia has joined the network as our exclusive Public Procurement member in Cyprus.

Alexia graduated in Law from the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University of Bonn in Germany in 1998. In 1999 she was admitted to the Cyprus Bar.


Alexia’s practice is focused on public Law, including administrative Law, constitutional Law and legislation drafting. Since May 2004, when the Tenders Review Authority (TRA) was established in Cyprus as part of Cyprus harmonization with the EU acquis, Alexia has focused almost entirely in the field of public procurement Law and was actually the first lawyer in Cyprus to bring a case before the TRA.


In the past decade, Alexia has handled many cases before the TRA, acting in many of them on behalf of some of the major construction companies of the island, on behalf of international and local pharmaceutical companies, international and local information technology companies and others. Alexia has also defended semi-governmental organisations such as the Cyprus Ports Authority and the Limassol Sewerage Board in cases before the TRA.


Alexia’s expertise in public procurement Law also includes review of tender documents, drafting of tender documents on behalf of contracting authorities and advice at the early stage of the tender submission and tender evaluation. Alexia has also extensive experience in handling cases before the Supreme Court of Cyprus in the field of public Law and public procurement and is a member of the United Kingdom Procurement Lawyers Association.


She has written extensively in legal publications and the media on public procurement Law and speaks Greek, English and German.

Tassos Papadopoulos and Associates LLC has established itself as one of the leading law firms in Cyprus. When the late Tassos Papadopoulos founded the firm in 1970, on Sofouli Street in Nicosia, the office operated with only himself and a secretary - a typical lawyer’s office of that time. In 1981, Tassos Papadopoulos established the partnership Tassos Papadopoulos & Co which dissolved in 2007.
