Announcement - New member of the Lawyer Network in Bahamas

The Lawyer Network is delighted to announce that Thomas Arlington Edison Evan of 'Evans & Co' has joined the Lawyer Network. Thomas has joined the Lawyer Network as our exclusive Commercial Litigation member in Bahamas.

Thomas Arlington Edison Evans, Queens Counsel, LL.B. Honours, is the Senior Partner of Evans & Co., Samuel H. Evans House, Shirley & Christie Streets, Nassau, The Bahamas.

Mr. Evans was born on 9th October 1947, at Nichols Town, Andros. He received his Primary and Secondary education at the All Age School at Nichols Town for five (5) years. He read Law at the University of the West Indies where he obtained an LL.B with 2nd Class Honours Upper Division and The Norman Manley Law School.

He was admitted to the Bahamas Bar in 1976. He served as Acting Justice of the Supreme Court from 11th September to 31st December 1989, 29th July to 15th November 1996 and 1st February to 30th April 1998. He previously served as Stipendiary & Circuit Magistrate in 1981 and 1983 and Crown Counsel in the Attorney General's Office in 1976 – 1980. He was a Member of the Firm of Christie Ingraham & Co. from 1980 to 1986a Partner from 1982 to 1986. He also served as Treasure of The Bahamas Bar Association and Chairman of the Ethics Committee of The Bar, Lecturer and Examiner for The Bahamas Bar Examinations. He is a former Director of The Central Bank of The Bahamas, Chairman of the Industrial Relations Arbitration Tribunal. He is formerly a member of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission of The Bahamas and Lecturer in the Law of Evidence at The Eugene Dupuch Law School. Mr. Evans is considered a leading expert in litigation with extensive experience in Commercial Litigation, Criminal and Constitutional matters. He is a recipient of the Bahamas Silver Jubilee Award for contribution to law and the Jones Communication Bahamian Legends Award for Law.

Mr. Evans is the Principal Host of the current Radio Programmes "Evans and Company's Legal Brief" and "Legal Notes", both of which are bi- weekly productions. He has authored many Articles on various Legal Topics which includes but not limited to Offshore Trust and Offshore Investments as well as on various legal topics that concerned criminal and civil laws. These articles were published both locally and internationally.
