Advocate, Bangladesh Supreme Court. Attended: Calcutta University (India), Dhaka University (Bangladesh), Harvard University (USA) & University of Hawaii (USA). Obtained post-graduate degrees in English Literature, Laws and Library Science. Admitted to Bar in 1975; is a Senior Partner of the firm Doulah & Doulah, Dhaka

The Firm:

We are a Bangladeshi law firm practising in all areas of Intellectual Property & Business laws since 1965.

Mr. A.B.M. Badrud Doulah, a senior lawyer and holding post-graduate degrees in Laws and formerly the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bangladesh, founded the firm in 1965 under the name "Doulah & Doulah" with the assistance of his father the Late Mr. M. A. Rahman, who was formerly an Assistant Editor of the English language daily The Hindustan Times, New Delhi. In 1973 he was joined in partnership by his younger brother Mr. A.B.M. Shamsud Doulah, who is now a Senior Partner of this law office.

Although the firm started as a general civil law firm, it expanded with specialization in the areas of covering full range of Intellectual Property(IP) Law Services, including Trademarks, Copyrights, Designs (all types including industrial and product designs) & Patents assisting Registrations, Renewals, Assignments, and Dispute Resolutions; Information Technology Protection; Domain Names; Software Protections; Broadcasting & Entertainments Media & Lobbying; Customs Protections; Investigation & Reporting; Litigation & Prosecution; License Negotiation; Computer & Software; Transfer of Technology; Unfair Competition; Market Survey and all types IP Infringements arranging Protections; taking effective legal and administrative steps against Counterfeiting & Passing-Off matters in all Offices, Tribunals and Courts in Bangladesh. In addition, at present, the firm renders wide range of legal services, including confidential intelligence reports and lobbying.

The firm is accredited as a project consultant to the Ministry of Law of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and a project consultant to various international organizations like World Bank, USAID etc. The firm drafted The Bankruptcy Law of Bangladesh. Edited and published the book entitled Major International Laws for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights; Dhaka, 1999; 416 pages.

The firm’s main office is in the capital city of Dhaka. It also has a branch office in the commercial city of Chittagong. A new office at the port city of Khulna is set up to commence soon. At present the firm comprises of 15 in-house lawyers in its exclusive 4-storied office building in Dhaka.
