Employment firm network Ius Laboris has appointed Chris Engels, senior partner from Claeys & Engels, as its new chairman.

Franco Toffoletto of Italian firm Toffoletto de Luca Tamajo will be replaced by Engels in the role and will have a term of office lasting for two years. Toffoletto has served two, two-year terms.

Both firms were founding members of Ius Laboris, which was set up in 2001 to focus on employment law. Since its establishment the alliance has added firms across the world and now has members in 41 countries including a number of full-service outfits as well as employment boutiques.

Engels said he would focus on developing the alliance’s brand and expanding its footprint to places where labour law was developing rapidly.
