Four join Watson Farley & Williams from Holman Fenwick Willan

Four lawyers have left Holman Fenwick Willan’s Hong Kong office to join Watson Farley & Williams.

Four lawyers have joined the Watson Farley & Williams team. Partner Richard Wilmot and associates Josephine Chan, Noelle Doo, and Andrew Carpenter, who all originally worked for Holman Fenwick Willan’s Hong Kong, have joined Watson Farley & Williams to strengthen its projects and dispute resolution practice.

Watson Farley opened its Hong Kong office earlier this year after hiring corporate finance partner Loretta Lau from Goodwin Procter.

The firm now has three offices in Asia, based in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. According to Watson Farley managing partner Michael Greville, the enlarged Hong Kong office “provides an excellent base for further development in Hong Kong and into China”.

Holman Fenwick, which has been in Asia Pacific for three decades, has been losing talent to new market entrants. Reed Smith hired two partners from Holman Fenwick’s Singapore office for its launch in the city state. In September, its Sydney head David Coogans left to join newly established Hong Kong firm Howse Williams Bowers.

In early November, Holman Fenwick promoted two shipping partners in the region, Dominic Johnson and Nic van der Reyden, to reinforce its partnership in Singapore and Sydney respectively.
